WESTON, Wis. — An 11-year-old girl died after her parents prayed for healing rather than seek medical help for a treatable form of diabetes, police said Tuesday.
Everest Metro Police Chief Dan Vergin said Madeline Neumann died Sunday.
“She got sicker and sicker until she was dead,” he said.
Vergin said an autopsy determined the girl died from diabetic ketoacidosis, an ailment that left her with too little insulin in her body, and she had probably been ill for about 30 days, suffering symptoms like nausea, vomiting, excessive thirst, loss of appetite and weakness.
The girl’s parents, Dale and Leilani Neumann, attributed the death to “apparently they didn’t have enough faith,” the police chief said.
They believed the key to healing “was it was better to keep praying. Call more people to help pray,” he said.
The mother believes the girl could still be resurrected, the police chief said.
The 25-year-old Syrian national picked up a knife from the store in the Red Sea city of Jeddah yesterday and decapitated the little boy in full view of shoppers, Arab News said. The man apparently killed the little boy following a dispute with the man’s sister and brother-in-law, the English-language daily said.
From News.com.auThe article doesn’t specify that this truly horrific act was directly related to religion but one cannot help but wonder if this happened because they were in a culture where holy books accept beheading and dismemberment as acceptable forms of punishment.
An Israeli MP has blamed parliament’s tolerance of gays for earthquakes that have rocked the Holy Land recently.
Shlomo Benizri, of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish Shas Party, said the tremors had been caused by lawmaking that gave “legitimacy to sodomy”.
More blatant lies and pseudo science. Does this person still believe that earthquakes happen when god reaches down and shakes the earth?

Kansas activities officials are investigating a religious school’s refusal to let a female referee call a boys’ high school basketball game.
The Kansas State High School Activities Association said referees reported that Michelle Campbell was preparing to officiate at St. Mary’s Academy near Topeka on Feb. 2 when a school official insisted that Campbell could not call the game.
The reason given, according to the referees: Campbell, as a woman, could not be put in a position of authority over boys because of the academy’s beliefs.
In a letter to King Abdullah, the rights group described the trial and conviction of Fawza Falih as a miscarriage of justice.
The illiterate woman was detained by religious police in 2005 and allegedly beaten and forced to fingerprint a confession that she could not read.
Among her accusers was a man who alleged she made him impotent.
Human Rights Watch said that Ms Falih had exhausted all her chances of appealing against her death sentence and she could only now be saved if King Abdullah intervened.
One wonders how such things could make it through the courts in modern times. Never believe that the witch hunts are behind us.
Solati explained that the two sisters had initially been tried for “illegal relations” and received 99 lashes. However, in a second trial they were convicted of “adultery”.
The pair admitted they were in the video presented by the husband but argued that there was no adultery as none of the footage showed them engaged in a sexual act with other men.
These women were already punished with 99 lashes and they were tried again with the same evidence, only another crime. How does that seem moral and just? Stoning to death in the modern age is another way religions firmly rooted in ancient times can lead to such barbarism.
A former Romanian Orthodox priest has been jailed for seven years for fatally crucifying a young nun during an “exorcism“.
Twenty-three-year-old Irina Cornici was bound and chained to a cross before being starved and denied water for days.

Upon arrest he said he would serve his term if God willed it, according to national news agency Rompres.
It is chilling to read that he will serve his term if God willed it. Does he not feel any remorse for murdering another human, even when the Ten Commandments tell him to not kill?
An article about the Prophet Muhammad in the English-language Wikipedia has become the subject of an online protest in the last few weeks because of its representations of Muhammad, taken from medieval manuscripts.

A Frequently Asked Questions page explains the site’s polite but firm refusal to remove the images: “Since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia with the goal of representing all topics from a neutral point of view, Wikipedia is not censored for the benefit of any particular group.”
“It’s totally unacceptable to print the prophet’s picture,” Saadia Bukhari from Pakistan wrote in a message. “It shows insensitivity towards Muslim feelings and should be removed immediately.”
An encyclopedia is supposed to be a neutral source of knowledge. If the pictures offend them so, then perhaps their governments should screen out the incoming images, just as the Chinese have screened out the Tank man.
